United Bowhunters of New Jersey leave carnage and bloodshed in 09's seasonFeb 05, 2011
The United Bowhunters of NJ has left behind an carnage of wounded deer and bloodshed in Essex County Park and also in Passaic County Park NJ in 2009 deer killing season. The people were outraged! Last year NJ allowed killing of wildlife on Sundays plus they have narrowed the buffer zone to mere 50 yards from peoples homes. NJ Fish and Wildlife is a sham they are run by hunters dictating how our wildlife is "managed" and as you can see it's in a very sloppy and horrificly cruel manner plus how much can the non-hunting public enjoy the forest without fear as the wildlife serial killers continue to terrorize our forest every fall? Please read up more on the reality of NJ Fish and Wildlife and also the horrific cruelty that is part of bowhunting. Essex Fells, NJ Deer Hunt Demo, September 2010 (2)Sep 25, 2010
A demo orgainzed by Keep Life in the Park (KLIP). Essex Fells Mayor Edward P. Abbot and the Town Council have not presented studies as to why they have initiated a bow hunt which began September 13 and is scheduled to continue through November 26. Without any justification, this hunt is nothing but a blood lust to be satisfied. Bow hunting is inhumane. Deer spend hours in agony after being shot with an arrow. Most deer are able to run after being shot, and most are not recovered by bowhunters. It is irresponsible of Mayor Abbot and the town council to allow a deer hunt without investigation and justification.
NEW JERSEY FALL BOW: MY 17TH DEER- BUCK GOES DOWN QUICK!Dec 18, 2011

Even in early season, deer hunting can be productive
The months of September and October are considered by many deer hunters to be the pre-game warmup for the "real season" when the rut begins. At that point, the mature bucks drop their guard and go into search mode for does in heat. If the truth be known many a trophy has been taken in the early period before the rut ever starts and it can be persuasively argued that during these two months quality deer can be taken because they are less wary (especially during the first two or three weeks) and because their patterns are more predictable. Let's take a look at some things to consider in this early portion of white-tail season.

Some tips to remember for bow hunting season
Compound bows have been on the scene since the mid-1960s and by design have the potential for greater velocity and accuracy than other types of bows. Nonetheless it takes practice to become proficient with this modern hunting weapon.
